Have you seen the new sidewalks and spaces in Downtown Orangeville? We took a tour with Tony Dulisse from the town’s Infrastructure Services to see the new wider smoothers sidewalks, the bike rack, new benches, new trees, and new waste receptacles.

What we love about this video:

  • It has the human element and is personal using the direct to camera approach.
  • It has a storytelling aspect when he talks off camera to the producer, explaining the new trees, it makes you want to keep listening.
  • It has constant motion to make you want to keep watching.
  • It’s short and easily communicates the purpose of the project.
  • And we love the feedback from the Town Council – “…LOVE the video that went out today! Fantastic!”

Hello friends, my name is Tony Dulisse. I’m with the Orangeville Infrastructure Services Department. I’m happy to announce that the Broadway Bricks project is now complete. As part of this project, we tried to make the surfaces more accessible for everyone, improved access to the downtown storefronts, safer walking surfaces, more benches, recycling and garbage stations, water fill stations, and electrical resources for musicians and festivals such as the Blues and Jazz Festival. We’ve made the sidewalks wider so that more people can walk side by side. One of council’s directions was to increase the tree canopy in Downtown Orangeville. We did that by planting approximately 15 to 20 new trees. These trees are able to withstand the salt and the sands of winter maintenance. It looks like a very small space, but underneath the root system is about double what you’re seeing, so that the roots are able to spread out, become a little bit more hardy Orangeville BIA would love to thank all the patrons who came downtown Orangeville during the sidewalk reconstruction. Come on downtown, enjoy our new smooth sidewalks and check out all the great shops we have to offer. We just want to say a huge thank you, to the town of Orangeville and all the workers that did an amazing job making sure our sidewalks here looked amazing. We had a seamless transition going from the old sidewalk to the new one right in front of our restaurant, making sure all of our guests are able to get in every day. Thank you for making Orangeville so beautiful. We want to welcome everybody to Downtown Orangeville and we hope that you come out and enjoy the new spaces that we’ve created for you.
